    • P. Hore Synnott Pedigree (1913), page 13:
'Marcus, eldest son & heir, b 19 Feb. 1816. md 28 Feb. 1844 Anne eldest dau of William Parker of Hanthorpe House, co. Lincoln, Esq.
J.P. & D.L. Sheriff in 1853. d. without issue 8 Oct 1874. The estates devolved upon his brother Mark.'

Marcus was born on 19 Feb - probably 1816, but sources range from 1813 to 1818. Burke's Irish Family Records (1976) gives Marcus’ birth date as 19 Feb 1818. Marcus was most probably born 1816 - taken to be 19 Feb 1816, key sources being P. Hore Synnott Pedigree (1913) apge 13 which says 19 Feb 1816, and:
findmypast.com.au Alumni Dublinensis - 1924 edition (Trinity College register) page 798: Synnott (Synnot), Mark S.C. (Feinagle Sch.) Oct 22, 1832, age 16; son of Marcus, Generosus; b. Armagh ...

In 1836, Marcus Synnot graduated B. A., Vern at Trinity College, Dublin. Vern is an abbreviation for Comitia Verna - Spring Commencements. To take the highest degree in each Faculty is described in the Old Statutes as Commencing in that Faculty i.e. commencing as a Teacher or Doctor.

Marcus was called to the Irish Bar 1840. On 28 Feb 1844 he married Ann, the eldest daughter of William Parker, Esq., of Hanthorpe House, Lincolnshire (England). Marcus was High Sheriff of Armagh in 1851, 1852 and 1856, and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Armagh in 1861.

In 1865 he was awarded an M.A., Vern at Trinity College.

He was listed as a magistrate of County Armagh in Thom's Irish Almanac in 1853. He continued to be a magistrate until his death in 1874, as noted in Thom's Irish Almanac as recorded on the findmypast website:

The Griffith's Valuation of County Armagh was completed on 1 Jun 1865 (wikipedia.org). Marcus was the lessee of significant areas of land, including in the townlands of Knockavannon and Lurgana. In the latter, he leased 2 blocks to his brother Parker George. Marcus also occupied a gate-lodge and land in Lurgana and an office and land in Ballintemple.

Slater's Royal National Commercial Directory of Ireland records 'Synot Marcus, Esq. J.P., D.L. Ballymoyre under the heading 'Gentry & Clergy'.

He died on 8 Oct 1874 in Brighton, England. He and Ann Parker did not have any children - at his death in 1874 his younger brother, Mark Seton Synnott, became the heir of Ballymoyer House.

According to the National Archives of Ireland Calendar of Wills and Administrations, 1858-1922 (22 Feb 1875, page 701):
"The Will of Marcus Synnot late of Ballymoyer County Armagh Esquire deceased who died 8 October 1874 at 15 Cannon-place Brighton was proved at the Principal Registry by the oath of Annie Synnot of Cawthorpe near Bourn County Lincoln the Widow the sole Executrix."
      The effects were under £15,000.
